Project: Branding and Market Expansion for Tropizen

Problem:

How can a medicinal cannabis manufacturer effectively establish a leading brand presence in a competitive market and drive substantial revenue growth while emphasizing the use of local natural resources?

Solution:

As the Co-Founder and Marketing & Product Director at Tropizen, I spearheaded a comprehensive branding and product development strategy that positioned Tropizen as a top-tier cannabis brand in Puerto Rico. Recognizing the island’s rich natural resources, we incorporated local ingredients such as passion fruit, quenepa, and soursop into our products, creating a unique value proposition. By meticulously crafting branding and messaging initiatives across web channels, products, marketing, and sales, we established a cohesive and compelling brand identity. I led the product development team, overseeing every aspect from testing and packaging design to sourcing and launching a diverse range of products. Additionally, I coordinated a multi-state cross-manufacturing partnership with MariMed Inc., successfully launching the first Puerto Rican cannabis product in the United States. Our PR efforts resulted in significant media coverage, further solidifying our brand presence.

Results:

We positioned Tropizen as a leading cannabis brand in Puerto Rico through effective branding and messaging initiatives that highlighted the use of local natural resources. Our product development efforts resulted in the successful launch of 9 cannabis product lines and 52 varieties, contributing to significant market expansion. This drove impressive revenue growth, achieving $4M in product sales and $15M overall. Furthermore, I coordinated a successful multi-state cross-manufacturing partnership, launching Tropizen products in the U.S. Our strategic media coverage, featuring in prominent publications such as Cannabis Business Times, Business Insider, and The Weekly Journal, enhanced our brand visibility and credibility.
